GiveBIG 2026 Won't You Help?

GiveBIG 2026

GiveBIG 2026: It’s that time of year again…

Let’s face it. I hate asking for money. Its hard to do it and people don’t like hearing it. But the hard truth is that is how places like the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum exist. We don’t have large corporate sponsors, or huge endowment funds. We exist off of the dedicated work of our volunteers and the memberships and donations from friends like you.

About GiveBIG Campaign

Washington Gives, through their annual GiveBIG campaign, is a way for you to help us continue our dream. The Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum is the only dedicated organization who’s function is not only to preserve the history of powerboat racing in one place, but to get the story out to this and future generations.

Anyone can go to a museum and look at stuffed elephants, or dinosaur bones. I mean, we have that too…we have a building full of trophies and driving suits, buttons and patches, programs and archives. On any given day you can wander through and lay your hand on pieces of the sport’s history: from Slo-Mo-Shun V to the “Blue Blaster” Atlas Van Lines, or the Seafair Trophy, or Dean Chenoweth and Ron Musson’s driving suits. But what makes us different is that we can take the show on the road…a loud, snarling, roaring exhibition at events from May to October every year. That is LIVING history.

But that living history is expensive, and this is where you can help: $10 helps pay for postage. $85 pays for a year’s registration on the Pay’n Pak trailer. A $125 donation can secure us enough spark plugs for an Allison. $500? That buys a kit of Hysol glue. $900 for a 55 gallon drum of Bardahl oil. Its all the little things that nobody thinks about or sees when you watch a handful of roostertails flying down the front-stretch on a summer’s afternoon.

The great thing about GiveBIG is that a percentage of all the money raised by Washington Gives is donated back to the non-profit that are represented here. So your donation goes farther. My goal is to raise $15,000 this year for the Museum. Its big ask, but it will also go a long way. I donated. Won’t you consider helping too?
