BUILD A BOAT. MAKE MEMORIES. GO RACING!

The Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum is looking for the next generation of boat racers! Know a kid who would love to build their own hydroplane and work toward racing in 2027?

Our J-Hydro Project gives kids ages 9–16 the chance to turn that dream into a hands-on family adventure. On Saturdays throughout the winter, young builders and their parents work alongside Museum volunteers and local outboard racing club members to build their own Junior Class hydroplane.

Along the way, they’ll learn woodworking, boat construction, teamwork, and racing safety—building confidence and making memories with every step.

Once the hull is built, it’s time to add some personality with paint or a wrap! Families can contact the Museum for details about boat kits, costs, motors, safety equipment, and the steps to getting on the racecourse.
